Looking for an Animal Reading a Book?

What is it about the animal kingdom that makes us want to humanize them so much? The fact is we find all ways to relate to animals by giving them characteristics that define us. One of that includes the concept of reading. Somehow we want to believe that animals can be smart by our standards or are they? Haven’t we been told that the human race is the smartest of all and that our brain far exceeds in comparison to other animals like dogs, cats and monkeys? So, why are we so preoccupied with the animal kingdom? What is it about animals that makes us want to get closer to them?

Take a look at the marketplace and you will realize that animal statues are endowed with unique human traits. They may garden, drink coffee or sit at a beach. There are just too many to recount in this article alone but the animal kingdom is certainly favored by the human race. We adore them and we like them so much we give them traits to remember them by like the monkey which is seen with a book! Yes, indeed it may seem cute to have a pair of reading monkey bookends for the shelves because one of the traits we endow the animal with is “reading”. There are just so many statues of reading animals created to appear like they love to read a book. For instance, we might smile when our favorite pet breed is shaped as a cat or dog holding a book. Imagine the sight of a set of monkey bookends shown with a book? It might tickle you or you may have realized you needed to get a birthday gift for the little girl who lives down the block and you are wondering if she might take well to a rabbit statue with a book since she has a bunny rabbit as a pet animal. Then again, for that someone special and who comes from a school that has a bear for a mascot, we might confidently believe that a reading bear may strike some interest and also add a unique addition to the garden.

The range of animals used to portray with a book is simply endless. They are designed to please someone who has a favorite animal in mind. Maybe, the animal is a totem for you and you’d like to see it characterized to take on more human qualities? So, why not have them with a book. Perhaps, you might like a bear or turtle that reads? Some may believe that the owl holds the key to knowledge while others are quite sure that their dear kitty cat is just the bright spark which knows so much.

The way we see “reading animals” are the way we choose to relate to them. We imbue animals as intelligent beings and we create a personality about them that we wish to relate to. So, if you are someone who adores and welcomes the look of the wildlife to the home or garden, why not spruce a little humor with some entreating reading animals statues to adorn your home? Or maybe, you might like to send them as a gift to a student, teacher or a friend who likes to read? The truth is reading animals are fun to have. They invite a mystery and wonder to our desk and shelves. We will never stop being curious about the animal world. And if you have heard about George Orwell’s Animal Farm, chances are you will know that we will always be interested in knowing more about the animal kingdom and how it can serve us. But for now, let us just take it one step at a time and remind ourselves how adorable animals can look when they are made to hold a book.
